It was rumored that Roman Gubanov trains in a very special way: Every morning he lift up to the Elbrus Saddle building materials (mainly wooden board) for being built hut. What a fantastic stamina he would get preparing in that way for Elbrus Race. He will be invincible!!!
-Israfil, we welcome Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation as VI International Elbrus Race General Partner . You have invested a large sum in the development of our competitions. Azerbaijan athletes are going for the first time to participate in the race to Elbrus. What's interesting to you in such competitions?
- Allow me to welcome organizers and you personally and participants of VI International Elbrus Race. Ellbrus Race is an important event for us. Elbrus speed climbs became the part of Soviet history and becomes a trend of post-Soviet mountaineering. It is the beginning stage of building a strong future national team for us. We will apply to so well familiar method of tests for choosing members.
- Not so long ago you became the president of Federation of alpinism. What is your concept of development of mountaineering in Azerbaijan? How do you prioritizes?
Artur Hajzer visited the tops of six 8000-ers, and three of them - by new routes. Together with E. Kukuczka he made the first winter ascent of Annapurna (March 2, 1987 they reached the top). This summer he with Robert Zhymchak climbed Nanga Parbat. Marcin Kachkan topped out soon after them. . This is the first part of a large 5-year project Polish Winter Himalayan Climbing 2010-2015.

Girls will run for the first time in "Extreme" class!
For the first time in the whole history of International Elbrus Race not only men are declared in "Extreme" class: two girls have decided to risk to run up from Azau (2400 m) to the Western top of Elbrus. The moment is, frankly speaking, the historical. More than 3 km of altitude difference.
These courageous girls are Maria Khitrikova (Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) and Alexandra Dzik (Poland). Both girls are high-altitude climbers.
